The 2023 edition of OMC MED Energy ended on the morning of 26 October. The figures alone testify to its great success. Over 14,000 visitors; more than 400 stands from 27 countries; representatives from Cyprus, Lebanon, Algeria, Egypt, Mozambique, Iran, Malta, and Libya, with qualified attendance in the 4 institutional panels; significant interventions by the Italian government and the European Commission; 12 panels with stakeholders, experts, managers, and entrepreneurs; 18 technical sessions; 26 business presentations; great participation in the 4 sessions of the Innovation Room (Starting Up Challenge - ORa! Energy Hackathon, Call 4 Ideas - Mediterranean Region, Energy Transition 4 High Schools), attended by, among others, an Israeli start-up and Algerian, Turkish, Moroccan and Iranian researchers; over 600 students visiting during the event.
Beyond the numbers and attendance, OMC Med Energy 2023 was characterised by the richness and strategic nature of its content. Over three days, complex topics such as the prospects of hard-to-abate companies were discussed; decarbonisation, fusion, hydrogen, energy security, digitalisation were discussed in the various panels: all crucial topics not only for the prospects of energy companies but for everyone's future.
The last panel of the three-day event finally addressed the issue of sustainable mobility, a highly topical and interesting problem, with the participation of companies and associations from the rail, maritime and air transport sectors.
"Holding the OMC event just five months after the flood tragedy was a gamble, and we won it." - said Monica Spada, chair of OMC Med Energy 2023, speaking to a large group of young people in her closing greeting - "We won it with the contribution of those who worked hard on it, the organisers and the city that believed in it. For this I say thank you to Ravenna, our energy capital. Now our commitment is to start from this important 30th anniversary edition to continue to renew OMC Med Energy Conference & Exhibition, to make it more and more a place for permanent debate on energy transition issues, in view of our next event, which will be held from 8 to 10 April 2025".
